When doing a restoration how do you  manage  to  get the  new  back  brake  cable  through the  frame  and  out the  other  hole?I  have stripped  a  bike  but  not sure  whether to  take the  back  brake  cable out  incase  I  cant  get it  back through after painting!!

I've found some easy to thread back thru with a little bit of twisting from the head tube end you can usually manipulate it back to the hole. Another way is to insert a loop of either thin wire or string into the hole and hook it back thru when it's near the opening.

yes i agree with andy, sometimes i bend the wire a little at the end or twist it while its in the tube and hook it out with the wire from a clothes peg! Sometimes they come out first time and sometimes it takes 10 goes to get it out.

If you leave the cable in you wont get a proper paint job round the holes and may end up painting the outer cable and its hard to get off.

Cheers boys , I  had  left the  cable  in and  masked  it up but  maybe  I  better take  it  out.

Any problems give us a shout (sometimes it helps to get a friend to twist the cable while you hook it out)
