i'm pretty sure that this must have already been covered so apologies for going over old ground...

the handlebars were stuck in my super and twisting them was going to end up breaking the wheel.  popped down the local bike shop and the eastern euopean guy in there told me the usual ie soak in oil/releasing fluid (i used gt85) but also to unscrew the main bolt a little bit, then tap it with a hammer.  i did this using lightest of taps and as if by magic everything went loose and the bars moved freely!! i nearly cried with joy!

i did this the other day on a mk1 and the forks just folded where they were so weak!!! so i cut the buggers off with a hack saw!!!!

i think the gut who had the bike before me had tried to take it apart and bodged it up!!! (i have some more mk1 forks so no worries!!!)

i suppose its better that your forks collapsed when you were not riding along carling!  smile/eek.gif

i had already undone the bolt when trying to twist the bars out bomberman, honest!
