hi,good pieces of info, the only wrong things are that the Mk1's had a differant rear mudguard to the one in the photo, they had a short stumpy rear mudguard and the grifter XL picture is missing the spoke protector.

Reguards the XL Spoke protector spookily enough they did'nt have one IIRC, checkin back in my records. Also the image above is from the Action Bikes brochure

Don't forget the Grifter GS.Do you know what the prodution run for this model was?.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h151/livester17/GS1.jpg

I was thinking of doing a time line with all the models on to show their production run. This could include all the variations especially on the mk'1s.

Excellent info by the way. I was always confused when exactly the Grifter SE was produced.

I think the Grifter Guru said he had unearthed a Grifter SE frame dated late 1979. I don't know if this was ever confirmed as being genuine.

Hi Wood5stock

I've just been fumbling around in my Shed. The GS has a hub date of 9 82 but It was hard to see the frame number. The first section is very faint but will have a better look tommorow in day light.

I've only ever seen one for sale on ebay before. Apparently they are quite a rare beast.

I was told that they were produced from mid 82 to mid 83 and the GS name was used across the raleigh range inc burners etc.

So that would make it Sept 1982 then, chances of finding another to compare frame nos etc are gonna be slim but Im sure we will be able to find some more info some where. Deffo looks like a hybrid of Mk2, XL and SG a truly rare beast indeed

Well spotted dude, as said previously dead right about the seat, I have change the picture too as I am pretty sure this will be correct as it's a NOS Griff off Ebay a while back.

Cheers for the eagle eyes and the corrections fellas

They blew the budget on carriers and red paint     so we did't get spoke protectors

Yeah thats right Grifter prices went mad a little while ago but seemed to be a bit more sensible now, although I did see someone trying to sell an XL for over £100 Buy it Now, and it was a complete snotter
