I've found another picture of a New Zealand Grifter.

Is it me or is it Pink in colour. There is a brochure scan that says the NZ Grifter came in pink but i just thought it was a spelling mistake.

it's pink (WHATS THAT SEAT ALL ABOUT) i've seen them before they just look AWFUL    and on the photo forks look bent but they are the same in the brochure

Yes your right cotterpin the forks seem to bend upwards. As much as i would like to own a nz grifter the seat is just wrong (its as though they had loads of chopper seats left over and just sold them cheap to fit on the nz model)

Why is it chained to the lamp post.... I mean who on earth would want to steal it??? Pink...what sort of boy rides a pink bike???     I prefer the Vindec scrambler!!!

oh its nasty all right but it would be good to have a nz grifter.  

It has no quality whatsoever. Everything is thrown together and doesn't fit... look at those awful mudguards and note how skinny they are... the whole bike is a joke. It just shows what happens when raleigh didn't insist on a QAR (Quality Assurance Rep) on the shop floor overseeing the production run. I won't mention the welding!!!     I think it's a good example of how NOT to make a bike!... It's not one for my collection.  

I can just see you riding through the high street on a pink chopper john!! With me close behind on the vindec scrambler!!!

The forks are different in that they are not the usual type and more like a very much shortened roadster type. If you take a CLOSE look at the back side of the sindle end, the forks have an extended mudguard mount on them, spose you could use it to fit a front carrier tho............

Anyhoo, i would ride that grifter ANY day of the week, pink or not !!

Most people would think you just stuck the chopper seat on it! They wouldnt beleave it was made in nz like that.

I agree with you wayne!! it a mk2 escort!! heres one!! a 2dr RS, the one in red at top of page is a 4dr burgandy model.
