Does anyone know what the earliest grifter know to the forum is?
I know the early pre production ones had skinny handle bar rubber as they were just testing the moulds out before full production.

The Grifter went on sale in May 1976. I think there's 3 members who have May 76 Grifters. I have one, I think Niteflite has one and I can't remember the other belongs to. I think Niteflites is the earliest. The Pre production Models also had Super MX tires rather than Supergrips. I've posted an image below of the tread pattern.

Thanks for that supergrip. We have just got back into grifters and were totally hooked. I will post some pictures soon of our bikes. Im going to restore a mk1 i have as the previous owner painted it red when it was blue. I wished they had left it alone!
I have another mk1 complete which is in good condition. The great thing about grifters is there still affordable unlike the choppers. (and anyway grifters look much better!!) Cheers mate.

I have one in need of a resto, will eventually do it!  Rear hub is 76/5 and frame is june ( so not a may after all!)!  I need a few bits, wrap - a - round flairs for the mudguards being one of them!  I think I will start it this summer!
