Hi everyone just got a xl and when i put it together i noted that the front wheel sems to be wobbling on the hub.  It looks like it can slide left and right about 3-4 mm.  Is this normal no matter how tight i do up the nuts it doesnt seem to pull it together. Can anyone help.....Many thanks

i would check your wheel spindle mate

take wheel off  and while your there might as well change the grease in the spindle, watch you dont loose the bearings

Is all done just as advised and i am well chuffed.  Now dont know whether to restore or not, i kinda like it a bit ratty, as long as it is safe.

Only thing is the wheels look a bit perished where can i get new tyres from?  I havent got a clue as i am a newbie doobie

original tyres hard to come by mate, most of us are on on perished and getting by, you can get tyres to fit and are look a likes ( e bay i guess ) 20 by 2.2125 if i recall but there not the same, originals come up on e bay but at a price

it's a xl so the tyres are chopper rear one's you can still buy them at most raleigh bike shops (about a £10 each)

Your right cotterpin xls have red lines not supergrips and are very cheap on ebay. I asked one seller for 2 rear ones instead of the chopper front one and they were about £12 for 2.
