you can date it from the frame number. Some of the early ones didnt have hub dates on. It could of been changed at some point. Once youve dated your bike from the frame you could always get a hub to match. |

Thanks..I thought you couldnt date a mk1 chopper from frame number, just hub..frame number isnt like normal raleigh ..it just says 1280088 on rear dropout. --Last edited by doobie on 2009-06-30 18:23:44 -- |

Oh that just goes to show you how much i know about choppers!!! Thats not a very good system as you could just change the rear wheel and make it what year you want!! I had a 72 chopper but the date was very hard to read on the hub. |

Ive got a 72 mk2 and date on hub is faint ..this just happened in 72....I thought all sturmey hubs had dates...I can narrow it down to either 70, 71 or early 72 ..not that thats much help... |
