been on the look out for nearly a week now    and will soon have 2 bikes for my boys to restore

couple of questions regarding parts, bearings, what do you guys generally do

regrease and use old
new bearings ( where do you get them from , any bike shop do these ? )
tapered roller bearings anyone ?

plan is to strip repaint and apply new decals, question on decals  .. do you lacquer over these to seal , or good enough to apply last and leave

lastly been reading through the kustoms, am i right in thinking some one on here does custom decals, if so let me know who please

sure will have plenty more but thats all for now

cheers mike

Hi Mike,

If the bearings haven't been rolling around in rust debris and aren't caked with kak then you could re-use them with a good clean and grease up. I wish Raleigh hadn't waited until the later 80's to start using bearers in a fixed race, they are a lot easier especially at the base of the steerer tube

I wouldnt lacquer over the decals, that could cause all sorts of discolouring when exposed to a drop of the sun, plus if it does go pear shaped getting them off will be a pain.

Bomberman and guys at the Burner Forums use a chap called Mark for custom decals, contact him through his website http://www.retrospectbmx.com/

John (canopusxs235) also does custom decals and original ones. They are quality so you get what you pay for mate. If you want a couple of cheap mk1 sets which which are ok i have them for £10 a set posted.
