Being that this is my first grifter project the seatpost removal has me a tad confused i dont want to put in a vice and pull and twist it for fear of ripping...what is the easiest way to seperate seat from Post as my post is past it and short..... Ive searched for answer in here but couldnt find it. didnt want to do a repost....thanks.

the foam type seats which were standard on the mk 1 and 2s can't be sepperated, that's why  seats with good foam and seatpost are so sought after.

Thanks..that puts pay to my new seat post insertion idea...rechroming it will have to be..

It just gets better! lol...i dont want to have to sand and respray black that looks a bit naff.,Anybody got a mk 2 seat 4 sale lol....

The other root is to sand it back to steel,buff it up and then apply a coat of clear lacquer. MK2 Grifter gaz did this and got a good result.

Spraying phe post black looks ok on red mk2 and siluer but on a prizzie ??....sanding back to metal may be an option...Its a bit annoying not being able to remove post ive a knackered post and a striker seat in great condition but post tiny...ive got local scrapman looking 4 grifters and burners said id give him 20 quid for complete bikes...he says he has cut up loads over last couple of years..thats a travesty.

Yes i did supergrip, i had the same chrome problem, my seat post was painted black, then on supergrips advice i took it back to steel (past the copper coating) and the result was very good (see pics)
