My father was going through his percy thrower stage then ..we were the first in street to have pampas grass which blocked light so had to go..

they are hard to get rid of (some people just set fire to them to get rid of the roots!!!)

You have just brought up a distant memory he did burn it to get rid..I aint thought about that since it happened..

Everyone seemed to have pampas grass its was the fashion! I remember riding past and grabbing hold of it and cutting my hand (like a paper cut!) I didnt do it again!!!  

It was vicous stuff.. i was never allowed within 10ft of the pampas grass..I remember my mum hating it and   bickering about it being a common occurance...But i do believe she was mortified when it was set alite in middle of front lawn...bloody women you cant win with them..

     I hate the stuff it always looks rubbish!

It does look naff.. thank god the fad is over.

i saw a gardens through the ages program recently and apparently swingers in the 70's grew pampous grass in their front gardens as a sort of sign, im sure you parents aren't doobie just a blurb from the program, my neighbours had one when i was a kid (you wouldnt swap keys in a bowl with that old biffer)

Lol the tupperware parties could have been a cover for more sinister goings on..I was always chased upstairs..
