you dont see many of these any more, i bought it brand new out of the grattan catalogue in 1987, did hundreds of miles on it in my youth, just finished a light resto on it, nothing major, original paint and decals, seat etc etc. it just goes to show h
ow well they used to build them (even as late as 87).

I used this bike most sundays in 87/88 (unless it was raining) to cycle round the trough of bowland (a small yorkshire dales) until i got my serious road bike (hand built ribble). It was on one of these sunny sundays that i was coming down one of the many steep passes in the trough that i took over an austin maxi, when i eventually came to a halt at the bottom of this valley, the bloke in said maxi turns up and winds his window down, he said "jesus lad, are you mad, i said why, i could see there was nothing coming the other way, he said its not that im on about, i was showing 65 when you passed me!!!!!! So could this be the quickest raleigh super equipe? or do you know quicker?????

Nice equipe niteflite!! i too have a racer, not quite as flash as yours though, i agree it does go to show how high quality raleigh bikes were, my winner was built in 1984 and i have owned it from new, in the first pic its pictured with 1 of the grifters i had back in the day! this was taken in 1986 in the winners early life, the second pic is of the bike as she is now, and below that is my original silver MK2 grifter with me on it as a young un!! its great to own a MK2 exactly the same again!, pure grifter magic!! Trough of bowland eh?? i know it very well, i go every now and again in the car though!! usually start longridge side then come out around abbystead and back through beacon fell then back through longridge, a very nice place for a drive and a walk too!

your oldschool picture is top quality gaz!     couldn't help noticing your brake levers were at quite a jaunty angle!  you've got to do your "newschool" picture!    also think i've said it before but your silver is a cracker!

there are so many cracking bikes owned by members on this forum - maybe there should be some kind of "hall of fame" section where we could all drool over the very best!

Thanks for all the great comments chaps! i was well happy and very very proud of that silver MK2!! just like i am very proud of the one i have now! it does look to big for me carling, and yes those brake levers gli are mounted quite high!! i remember asking my dad to set them there for me!!   i will do the picture when i get chance as close to the original as possible!! (i won't be doing it on the stand though this time, i fear it will break the weld with my now much larger frame!!) The seat was a ebay purchase, (it replaced the temporary but very comfortable selle royal seat which was fitted at mid restoration) it was about 13 quid foam is perfect, the chrome was poor and veiny, so it was painted gloss black then supergrip gave me a tip on how to clean it up so now it has a dull chrome finish now, thanks again, heres the pics of the seat and the bike as it was mid done..... cheers
