After buying a Raleigh Team Banana racer at the local tip for £5 ive gotten back into road riding, sadly the Banana is a bit of a wreck but still moved pretty well but required maintenance after every ride. I pondered purchasing a new bike like a Specialized Allez but you need at least a grand to get a half decent bike, of course I would have liked a Raleigh but modern offerings are pretty kak.
I bought off the bay this racer for around £25 as I thought I could at least nab the wheels and Shimano 105 parts for the Banana

turns out the bike was a Raleigh Record Sprint and the earlier more desirable and very light aerospace contour version. I had the frame blasted and powder coated with a view to using the parts that came with it, I then decided that bolting back these old bits was a waste of time and have spent loads on nice new 105 bits
bottom bracket, calipers, levers, carbon stem and seat post, wheels, easton bars etc etc just a few more bits to get - cassette, chain rings, shoes!
at least im riding a Raleigh
