Original Raleigh Budgie? I was a bit unsure due to various parts not looking 'Raleighish'
Anyone know a bit more about these than i do?
12 inch Raleigh slick tyres, pedals are from the raleigh era same as the chrome mudguards which are in good condition, cannot find any markings apart from on the rear hub marked sturmy. No dates or frame numbers. Plastic seat does not look right. Any info greatfully received. Note grifter seat on deckchair, compleate no rips! Found for a fiver images/icones/icon7.gif

Looks like a Budgie thats been painted at some point, the seat is Budgie and the same as on some Commando's. The Boxer had a seat the same as the Grifter

Definatley had a paint job, i was 99.999% sure it was a budgie, bought for the boy, clean up and stabalisers a great start into the raleigh world.
Seat must be from a boxer as all my other stems are longer on the grifters. good replacement for my winter rat ride which has chunks out and no reflecter

Yes, defo a budgie, i had one in gold, its got the correct seat(see one below i spotted recently) though the chrome back rest on this one had been painted along with the rest of the frame! my best mate at the time had a metallic purple one, do not know what other colours they did.... i only remember my forks snapping and a chap with a garage welded them for my dad and she was as good as new! (and stopped me from crying )

A absolute bargain for a tenner mate    very complete and in much better nick than the one i took a pic of!! a mate from the next street to me had a budgie when we were kids and i recently found out that his mum still has it in the attic!! i was really surprised and must persuade him to get the old gal down as i have not clapped eyes on it for around 30yrs!!!

Found it by chance, took in-laws to look at a tandem got talking to the bloke and he opened his shed for me. Did'nt buy the tandem but came away with the budgie, a grifter, boxer seat and a cast iron bench    mudguards now on, front brake on, tyres pumped up........bit small for me but on the look out for stabelisers, one for the young boy.

my first real bike was a pale blue budgie, my seat was different though, it was smoother.  they came with different seats from new.
