I went on a ride that was far too long for my Grifter at the weekend.  Cycled form Newcastle to the Coast to see the runners coming in from the Great North Run at South Shields.  It was a 22 mile round trip  

On the way we went through the Tyne bicycle tunnel which is amazing.  You get a lift down or a wooden escalator and you have a dedicated cycle tunnel....here's a few pics....

Superb   must have been great riding the grif down the tunnel, could do with something like that round my way!! bike looks great

My friend was on her Fort racer (not sure if that counts as a classic!) and on the return journey she towed me which really helped my legs.  The tunnel was cool - it dips right down so you can get some real speed up.  The noise is great too from the wierd acoustics.  Sounds like someone is bombing towards you but its a blind dip so you can't see, then an old guy pedalling really slowly appears!
