Project 'proper' Mk3 Continues!

I thought i'd have a go at adding a 'proper' Chain Guard so thanks to Ginger, i managed to get hold of a Mk2 replica one. After shortening and re shaping the end it lined up rather well. I used some thin steel to mock up a bracket and trial fitted it.

After i was happy that it looked ok and didn't catch anything, i removed it and cleaned up all the welds and edges. I then cut the handle from a spanner designed to remove the discs from angle grinders, and shaped it to make a nice and strong bracket. I riveted it on, used a little filler here and there then gave it a lick of paint.

I left it to dry overnight, then applied plenty of laquer. I fitted it to the bike tonight and it looks much better than the original one.

I quite fancy fitting the Mk1 decal to it now. I did have a few of them but i cut them up to fit either side of the Chopper decal on the down tube!

My next addition may be an alloy spoke protector and a decal for the shifter. This will need to be cut to fit though as i had to re-work the shifter surround quite a lot to get it to fit!
