Here’s the first few photo’s of my Boxer resto. I bought the bike last year off Ebay for £15 Buy It Now and only 5 miles down the road!, its was complete apart from its chainguard, front mudguard, rear mudflap and some mushroom style grips, best of all it had a brand new pair of Supergrips which were worth the £15 alone. Ive already got a pretty mint metallic blue, so decided to go yellow with this one. Here it is partially stripped (forgot to take a photo of it complete  d’oh)

Here it is back from the paint shop, the frame and bars were both shot blasted, the frame and forks were powder coated in bright yellow and the bars in Ford satin black, both of which are a really good match

Decals applied, the Heron sticker is NOS, the other decals are all copies but are very good, I would have done some more building but the garden needed watering! Will post more pics soon

Short update, had a bit of time spare so worked on the Boxer today. I bought a newish Raleigh with 16” wheels a while ago to rob parts from. The original Boxer wheels were quite pitted so these were a welcome replacement. (this bike is for my son, no show winner so originality is out of the question). Ive fitted the SuperGrips which were a pain in the harris, whether they are 16” or 20” they are a pig to remove. To answer a question or two I got the decals off Ebay a few months ago, they were Buy it Now at £9.99 the seller was my_little_babys, they may have some more but postage was REALLY slow (4 weeks) so don’t expect a quick turnaround.

The front mudguard is NOS,  I used the later Raleigh calipers as they are clean, rust free and ready to go

Nice nobbles on the tyres! Saddle, crank, chain extra to do. Next update coming soon

The Boxer resto has finished boo hoo, now I need another project, the last part was the chainguard. It was missing when I bought the bike and ive not seen for sale on Ebay in 5 years.
I bought this Tomahawk guard and modified the end, its not as long as the original Boxer but needs must, here it was as purchased, complete with crank arm dents.

Great 'how to' pics there. The skim of filler - great detail.

Looks the business.

Don't forget to come along to the Brooklands Meet, 5th May 2008.

The handlebar grips are pretty much the same as Grifter grips, they were slightly thinner and had a sealed end (the Grifter grips have a hole in each end). The grips on my yellow Boxer are just mushroom grips - they are more comfy for my son to use. As for your wheels if you have the dosh get them re-chromed or look out for a 16" chromed wheel bike being sold locally to you and blag the wheels from it, I got a whole Raleigh bike for £5 used the wheels and loads of other little bits on this Boxer. 16" Supergrips are now very thin on the ground, havent seen any on Ebay for a couple of years. I got lucky with the chainguard decal, BendycatEleventeen and Forum member was selling a whole load of old stickers and this was amongst them, the ones you have bought on Ebay are very good.
