Kinda sad but its what im going to call my raleigh burner , bought from devon on thursday after a breif appearance on e bay ,today she was assessed and a new seat clamp bolt was fitted to replace the long thin screw and nylock nut which was there , a correct period bolt and r nut was added , the bell was removed as its not fitting to the bike , and an old raincheck brake block was added as the old one was missing in action .

She also had a yellow faded raleigh pad fitted that has been sitting in the frame shed for ages that looks like it belongs .
All i need to do now is to replace the black brake cable to a blue one that i have from billing and its there , all original and all there apart from the pads on the handlebars , a well used but looked after bike that can only appreciate in value

Tonight i removed the front brake assembly so i could get to the forks and clean them and found that there is a washer that is made from graphite is fractured and needs replacing , but the calipers were also cleaned and the whole thing put back together .

These are going to be more to be dones rather than pains so its not a problem , the seat stem is also stuck fast in the seat post tube so another job to be done , i feel a weekend workshop coming on

As the weather was nice today i got the belle out to chase my daughter on her bike around the front of my house , and after oiling the pedals , wheels and crank bearings i elected to race around the square , all was going swimmingly until i decided to rush towards my daughter in a t bone fashion and brake suddenly when shock horror , the front brake cable slipped and i lost my front brake , luckily she moved out of the way just in time and i shot onto my front garden (luckily the gate was open) and had to rely on my back brake stopping the bike before it hit the house  ...which it did thank god, i then decided to put the bikes away after that and take her to subway for lunch
