Here's some pics of my Grifter custom. As you can see i still have some things to do before Brooklands. Mudguards still to be painted, Decals are being done as we speak and wheels are going to be painted, don't worry i'm not painting over chrome, i have some old rims which all the chrome is flaking off, so out with the grinder and bye bye old chrome and hello fresh paint. The whole idea of this Grifter is that i found it in pieces at the tip and wanted to restore it. But i got a blue one later on so thought i'd do the custom thing on this old stars and stripes. The mods i've done are nothing too outrageous because i wanted to be able to put it back to original one if i wanted to.

This is a little way off finished yet. The decals are now on (Groovy 70's styleee) mudguards are in primer, rear has been modded! Front brake is on, not having a rear! If you look i've gone thru the top tube for my gear cable route. All thats left to do is paint some rims and relace the spokes. If you want to see the finished article, come and say hello at Brooklands I'll be there with 3 other bikes. Grifter XL, TuffII Burner and Strika XL.....

As Brooklnads isn't happening...boooo. I thought i'd put some updated photos on here. It's about 97% finished now, Front mudguard to do, haven't decided to mod or not, waiting for front brake outer casing on ebay and some little decal touches to finish off.

Good job mate. Its nice to see that people aren't rumming out of original modding ideas. Top drawer!
I think that the rear mudguard looks so good, you should do the front one the same.
A coaster rear hub would have looked cool too!

I was undecided with what wheels to go with, i was tempted to paint the rims but like the chrome, i was also tempted with mags but wanted to keep the 70's theme rather than go into the 80's. also I know this should go in the wanted section but before i start welding holes up in my mudguard has any one got a XL one spare.
