As i have been allowed to spend the day today playing with the preciousess i am doing lots and one of the lucky recipients is a super grifter that i got from jaydog , it had no gears , one brake , bald tyres , and a very wobbly front wheel .

So today i set to work , and she now has three gears , no wheel wobble , and a full set of operational brakes ...AND A BELL .

SHE IS A TRUE RATTIE AND THATS HOW SHE WILL STAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we had about 3 grifter with wpbbly front wheels, i fixed em though, must be a common problem, i heard on choppers the cones tighten if the wheels on backwards, maybe its the opposite, they loosten if its on backwards?

Its the drag on the bearings
since the SA front hubs dont have lock nuts, well not till the late 80s
the bearings can move the cones seemingly

Its why pedals have left and rignt threads..there was a possibility that a pedal could gum up and then get unscrewed

Its no good i cant leave her stripped bare like that its just not right so im going to rebuild her in a fashion , she is going to be rebuilt with the worst parts i can find and then is going to live in the back garden to rust in peace , then she can come along to shows and be put next to a show pony so we can show a before and after type thing to show just how high the standard of work is on this forum .
So far she has a mk2 foam seat or whats left of it , dirty rusty calipers complete with really rusty nuts , bols and washers , im going to give her a set if unfoamed handlebars one handlegrip .

That should do for now more rubbish when i find it
