well i have had a quick look at her and so far i can see that she will recieve

new tyres front and rear

shiney new brake calipers

shiney new headset

shiney new brake lever collars

new decals

that is it as of now , and i have to say that she is in great looked after condition , she has lots of r nuts , and even her handlegrips are in great order , i think the tyres are original and she has been looked after over her life , the chain guard is not even cracked or chipped so i think a good wash and re oil of her parts will see her back to her former glory

just to make sure you know, the XL had red line chopper tires, they never had super grips

ok now that it is day time i can see her , warts and all , and she is fine , damned fine , straight as a die , she is just old , with minimal rust , even the wheels are not beyond saving although they will be pitted .

I started cleaning her during the early hours of this morning with baby wipes and she has not come up to bad but she will be getting a good wash down with hot water and a brush to remove the worst of the crap before i begin to dissassemble her and clean and replace the bad bits , she will be coming to our first meet in april .

well i cant lie to you , it was hot water with washing up liquid  , and then rinsed over with clean fresh hot water and then left to air dry in my front room .
The metal items were gently abraised oooh now theres a word , with a brillo pad .

Today i am hoping to take the handlebars off and abraise them lightly , and put some shinies on her for the brakes and hopefully a new head bolt , the grips will be washed and the headset replaced with yet more shinies

well i have not started any of the work that i have to do but i have just removed the front  brake blocks and the hooks that accompany them , and i have replaced the rubbers that hook around the forks , as the old ones had perished and were split causing the metal of the hook to rub on the fork and damaging the paint work  .

If anyone out there needs some of this black rubber tubing let me know and i will sort you some out but i only have a small amount at the moment but i will be getting more

well as per my life , decide one thing and do something completley , but todat i removed the seat clamp and washed it as per usual and it has come up quite well , i dont really want to change it as i want to keep all the parts as original as possible so a little rust will remain
