Hello everyone!  I bought my childhood bike from retrowagen1234 back in June and I have since completed ~99% of the restoration.  I'm still searching for a US spec chainguard and I will be rehauling the rear hub over the winter.  I was anxious to get the bike back together and take it for a ride.

Thanks to carling (Wayne) for helping me resource some much needed parts and sending them to the US!

I snapped a few pics but I plan on doing more come Autumn.  Enjoy!

very nice, how did you get those wheels so clean or are they replacements?

Thanks!  I used an Engine degreaser, steel wool, toothbrush (not mine ) and alot of "elbow" grease.  I considered taking them completely apart but I've heard horror stories of re-lacing.

They are the original wheels that came with the bike BTW...

Youve done a great job baldie (i bet you wont see another bike like that over there!!!) everyone will stop and ask you what it is!

The screws in the mudguards would look better painted black and maybe look out for a mk1 seat (that would be the crowning glory to a very nice resto   ) well done mate. Now for a red mk1!!!

Thank you for the kind words Wayne.

Yeah, I'm going to replace the seat and paint the screws black on the mudguards.  I was so anxious to ride it!

It's funny you should mention a red MK1...I found a guy here in the US that has a red US spec MK1 for sale.  I'm working with him now to get the deal done.  If it pans out, I might be hitting you up for some more parts.  lol
