hi all
baught on the night of the 4th of october 2008 (well swoped for a pair ck jeans that didnt fit but a mate liked)
was found by accident while he was faffing with his scooter and said hey is that a grifter at the back there he sez yeh i sed well u wana swop the jeans for the bike he said yes!!!! so
i picked it up tonight walked over 3 mile to his house in the pouring rain and in the cold dark of autumn. i then helped him get out the bike and stuff as it had been there for a number of years and seems the bike has been in my freinds family for quite some years and belonged to his grandmother some number of years so.. i promised i would cherish it!restore it to its former glory!!.
so my plans - keep as much as i can of the bike so its as original as possible
parts needed
front brake unit with blocks, lever and cable
rear brake blocks with cable - both brake cables which do i need RIBBED or SMOOTH?.
gear cable(the one i have is past it and has the chain links missing).
new chain and possibly a new freewheel as my current one seems to miss and the chain comes off.
crank requires looking at as this seems to feel as if it slips?
anybody have any idea's?
also needs new grifter tyres (current ones are super grifter ones white walls with blue tread)
new sticker set (where to buy as i havent seen the ones i have!!!)
speedometer? some grifters had them and some didnt what came with speedo's? or why did some have them???
if anyone knows anything about it they might be able to point out to me then please do
it is metalic bluey colour with silver/gold grifter stickers along the cross bar and has the black raliegh approved design sticker in the lower part of the frame - and has the fat style seat (which is in mint!!!)
the serial number is... nb 7208**** and the date into the rear hub is - 76 12 dec of 1976
if anyone has any pics of these decals or has any idea's as to where i can get my bits i need etc then
any comments welcome!
