Picked up my latest project over the weekend. Been stored for a few years so needs a good clean. I don't know about the blue supergrifter tires

I got this one of eBay a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to strip it down and rebuild it putting original supergrips back on. Looks in pretty good nick under all that dust

Continued with stripping the grifter down today. Started by removing the handlebars, sprayed loads of releasing fluid down the head tube yesterday which made the job a lot easier.

I then removed the sidestand with the homemade stand removal tool. It really does work and removed the pin with no problems.

Next came the crank, which I again sprayed loads of releasing fluid around the cotter pins. A few taps with the hammer and they popped out no problems.

The frame is now completely stripped and ready for a good clean.

Thanks for the comments guys. Ste, it took a couple of hours to clean the frame. Started with soap and water then went over the frame very lightly with very fine steel wool and 3 in 1 oil taking care not to touch the decals. I then T cut the whole frame and went over the decals very lightly to brighten them up. finally I applied a good resin car polish to add some shine.

cotter pin It was fairly local, I picked it up from Manchester.

The restoration is nearly finished. Just the chain and the chain wheel to sort out. Here are some updated pictures. I've included a before and after image to show how well it's polished up. Hope to have it finished over the next couple of days.

I think the tyres are off a blue super Grifter. There free to a good home if anybody wants them.
