Whilst having a kind of sort out in the shed yesterday i unearthed a frame and forks of a silver super grifter that does not seem to be in too bad condition .

So i have elected to have a look and see if i can rebuild ANOTHER grifter , to be honest i have NOWHERE to keep it , my shed is full to and beyond capacity .
But on the plus side , i have most of the parts that i need to get the thing rebuilt , i think it may be shy of a wheel , thats it but im almost tempted to strip ratus ratus for parts and get a nice example of a super back on the road , scratched but original what do you think ?

sounds like a plan steve, but remember the wheel rims on the supers are different from the normal grifs.

indeed they are but ratus ratus ia a super grifter , on inspection , i think this frame is a stolen frame from bitd , as the frame number has been partly erased and so only some of the numbers are visible , its not play worn its been ground out smile/eek.gif.

But i have removed the front calipers and have dissassembled them and cleaned them up , and re fitted them , the frame has been washed and polished, i have put the bars from this bike on baby blue , so they can remain on there and the bars from ratus ratus will be added to this bike as will all the ancilliary parts , lots of shinies will be going on this bike

It is hoped that i will have it complete and finished by billing so i can bring it along

normaility has returned to the house , mrs goes out and i play bikes , and then take it to bits and then lose a bloody bearing , and then to add insult to injury i habe put the spindle in the wrong way round so its got to come apart again , but on the plusside its running freely now , which it wasnt an hour ago , i found , dirt , insects and hair in the guts wrapped around the spindle bizarre

Oh what a way to spend a day , bask in the summer sunshine sorting shinies for ones grifter , she now has a seat clamp and bolt , front and rear brake calipers and a front and  rear mudguard sorted all boxed up and ready to be assembled , they are all original parts but are not nos or re chromed ect , so they show the scars of battle and therefore character , its a slow process but thats the way i like it building it up from nothing .

Today she will be given a set of handle bars complete with brake levers and cables , I have looked at ratus ratus and i can honestly say that the wheels are knackered , they have been sprayed blue at some stage badly so im tempted to go for a normal set of grifter wheels but we will see as and when i get that far but for today , the bars , brakes and cables

The wheels are not knackered , the blue paint that some moron decided top apply to them is coming off with a little elbow grease and a wire brush , the wheels are pretty pitted but not too heavily , they are not show standard , but its not going to be a show bike its a rider and another useable grifter for the future !!!!!

I have decided to change frames , from ratus ratus now rip , put all the stuff onto super trooper and sort it out when i get a chance , so i have one complete bike in the shed as opposed to two half bikes .
The front wheel is silver again , unlike most of the spokes which are still blue as is the tyre

PERFICK

The sun is out the sky is blue and i have just sat in the back garden tinkering with the bike , she has just had her front mudguard fitted as well as her front brake caliper , she is beginning to take shape .

Rear brake set is now in , the rear brake cable inner was a little too far gone so it has been replaced with a new inner and fitted.

The rear mudguard is fitted but still needs the arch to secure it at the very back.

The gear cable was refitted and re connected to the back wheel , what it needs now is the chain wheel and pedals will need to be refitted to make her a goer .

Although the front wheel has been stripped of all its blue paint , the back wheel is yet to be done but this is going to be a bit of a job as the paint looks a lot thicker so we will see , but the main thing is that it is another grifter back from the grave .

have been out having a look at super trooper and i have decided that she will have standard rain checks on the rear but large rain checks on the front.

She also has a set of blue shrouds in the post and i have won a proper seat for her from the bay , then once i have the mudguard mount sprayed and fitted the only job left will be to remove the spindle and put it back in the right way so i can attach the pedals then she will be complete , not finished but complete
