Now I know you guys like a good resto and as some of you may know I recently acquired the USA Griter frame and bits of eBay. I've started a sympathetic restoration of it using good original parts.

Here's as it arrived.

This is after I've cleaned and polished the frame.

and here's a couple of close up shots.

First thing i did was to fit both fork thimbles and both bearing cups to the head stock.

Then I fitted the forks to the frame and used a cateye reflector bracket.

Here's the frame complete with the forks.

That's wicked!
Out of interest, what did you use for the background on the photos?

Don't forget to come along to the Brooklands Meet, 5th May 2008.

It's a white paper infinity curve at my studio. Just lit it with a soft box overhead and tweaked the contrast in photoshop to get a clean white. It comes on a four and a half foot roll and cost about   £50.00

I didn't get much change out of £100, But since I have most of the missing bits it was worth it as it will be worth quite a bit when it's built up.

Hi Supergrip,

Do your USA Grifter's have holes under the saddle for the UK reflector arm and screw? Just wondered why they bothered with a seat post mounting reflector which seems more likely to get binned by a kid than the seat mounted option.

Hi 1977

The seats on my other two USA,s have the hole but is thinly covered over with the black seat rubber.

I think it may have something to do with the fact that the front reflector is made by cateye and is attached to a cat eye lamp bracket so they may have gone for the same on the rear. Cateye reflectors have there own type of fitting which would not fit on a normal Grifter bracket.

I've done some more work on this frame and hope to have some more pictures to post over the weekend.
