This as another post has said is another in my flock, she is a silver or palermo grey with black detailing , the lamp holder is in great nick , as are the pedals , and the wheels by the look at , it has a supergrip on the front but a comp 3 on the back .

The front mudguard is there but the front flap has been folded with the sad same results , It needs a set of black ribbed brake cables and a new set of black handlegrips and a new saddle .
The frame is in good condition and should come up ok when given a little attention .

after i have removed it from the car i can confirm that it is SILVER .

She is currently sat in the front room watching tv in the warm , and work will commence soon .

Today she will get a decent saddle and will be relieved of her damaged one .

The brake lever on the left is bent upwards so im going to swap them over in order for me to use the original ones , in that way it will be bent downwards and as such should not pose a problem in its use .

Anyway back to the subject in hand ,

Today i have fitted a rear brake cable as well as cleaned up the rear caliper using a great product called bug and tar remover , its the works , non abrasive and with a little effort , and i mean a little as i dont do hard work , your chrome and paintwork will come up trumps .

All she needs now is a rear mudguard and left hand grip and we are complete .

While im at it this afternoon i am going to fit a Grifter gear cable and remove the chopper one that is on there , the cost so far on this resto is as follows

Bike £20.00

Cables £0.00

Seat £0.00

Mudguard £0.00

Bug and tar remover £3.00

So i think im on target to complete a resto for pennies almost

Had a quick tinker with the gear cable assembly today at the rear of the bike and saw the damage that having a chopper gear cable has done to the rear forks , its taken all the paint as well as the primer off and has eroded the top layer of steel so that needs attention , while i was doing that i took out the linkage and cleaned that upand oiled the rear hub , which looking at it , has not seen oil for many a year .

Then it was all reassembled to see it that will assist in the collection of gears and no it didnt , so i either have third or a box full of neutrals

The reason I am asking Gaz  is last  night I noticed that  on  the  Mark I grifter you could  not  see the  slot for the colours .So I opened it  up  then  sorted  it to see the colours ,  put it back together but  during  changing  there was  no  clicking so I did think there should have  been a  ballbearing  so I looked around  the  garage  floor and  found 1 which I presume  was it.
Have  put  it back together  and its  now clicking  during  gear  change  but  just  making sure  there should only be 1.
