Thanks for the tip    I'll try the heat first and if no joy i'll try the grinder.

I'll have a go at the pedals with a spanner tomorrow and hopefully they will come off

A few updates and pic's, I managed to get the left pedal off and will attempt to get the right pedal off tomorrow.  Started to strip the paint from the frame today using a flap wheel   but will need to use nitromors on the hard to reach places. The chrome on the wheels is in quite a bad way inside as well as on the outside.  I emailed a company in Ashford who rechrome stuff but felt their quote of £435 was a bit steep.  I'm currently soaking them in vinegar and will see how they turn out once they are cleaned up.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/judgepalmer/3795693947/

right pedal i used an adjustable and used a heat gun on the arm, came out a treat , only slight heat though , as for getting all paint off i did not bother but feathered in the old paint , as long as you use couple of coats of primer and couple of coats of paint it will not show through

Thanks mikeyboyo, i'm really happy so far at how the resto is going considering it's the first one i've ever done.  I stripped the handlebar down yesterday, just waiting for primer, matt black paint and lacquer to arrive. Once the frame is lacquered and the handlebar painted and lacquered i'll be re-assembling the bike which is the really exciting bit and will post more pic's as I go.

Hi everyone,  I have now finished my resto of my Raleigh Grifter MK2 and will be posting pic's on 'Restorations' section shortly. I thoroughly enjoyed my first ever resto and am very happy with the end result
