well i have just got back and it was more like a route march from hell than a amble to go and get it.

So after the five hour journey we have arrived with a bike that has DEFINATELY seen better days , she is going to need major work to get her put anywhere near right to ride .

The tyres are shot , the wheels are well rusty , the chain and bearings have not seen oil since before the dawn of time .
Iam going to have to be very careful not to turn this into a money no object refurb so im going to be on the look out for decent 2nd hand bits for her so watch this space

ok so now the fight back begins :

the pedals and wheels have all been re introduced to my two favourite freinds , brute force and oil .

From a seized solid state, the pedals now turn happily , as does the front wheel , a wheel that will now spin quite happily all day long , the chain has been drenched in oil and has gone from a seized in a particular shape with absolutley no intention of moving to a very very well oiled chain that has been persuaded to play the game and now rotates on the gearings still not happy about it though, but it will learn !

However all this has come at a cost   my little favourite box spanner has sheared and the tyre leavers that i bought from wilco,s have snapped , but this is a war of attrition and there will be casualties along the way .

Iwill fight it on the paths , i will fight it on the grass , never before in the field of cycling conflict has so much been owed to one person by one bike

sorry to hear your attack was not free from casualties, but like you say it is war.

be careful, may the force be with you !

Then as a last smack in the teeth , my workbench broke in two , so thats deaded as well , but there are piccies to follow , i have spent the whole day sorting out the front wheel , by removing lots of rust .
